Welcome to the blog of the British Team at the World Championships in Brunnadern, Switzerland 2009.

We will publish small stories from the life in the camp, the training, the competitions and whatever we experience in the WC - week.

Sorry every one. Charlotte lost our camera with all photos from WC and the Birtish team. We can recommend that you visit the website fotoagentur dk and their section for the British team in Switzerland

10-08-2009: WC is over - phots will follow

Every body is home now or on their way. We will update the blog with photos taken during the WC week. Thank you for your interest in the team.

09-08-2009: Laura did well in speed pace

New personal record for Laura in the speed pace. First race the time was 9.34 and in the second race she improved to 9.04. It was an exiting competition with 12 riders below 8 seconds. Laura ended as nb. 27 and as nb.9 in the young rider class.

07-08-2009: Charlotte nb. 28 in fourgait
Charlotte was first to go of the two British riders in the fourgait. She did well and achieved a 5.87. Jemimah had an off day or you might say that Draupnir had an off day with lack of energy and the breaks on in all the gaits so even though Jemimah were doing all she could, it was far from her performance at the British Championships two months ago.

06-08-2009: Svala nb. 5 in breeding

Svala and Magnus Skulason managed to improve the scores in both trot and canter and ended with a total score of 8,10. It gave a result as nb. 5, but the bronze medal was just ahead with the smallest margin. The T.1 ended up in a big disappointment for the British riders. Charlotte was to fast in the slow tempo tölt and her stallion Glymur jumped in the canter in the fast tölt and ended as 37. For Jemimah it nearly ended before it started. Her horse crossed its own track and where disqualified, but she continued and made a very strong performance. Laura was the last to go in today’s competitions. The first race in the pace test was below her normal level, but in the second race she did it well and ended as number 6 in the young rider class and in the overall competition as number 28.

06-08-2009: T.1 and riding abilities

Today it is Jemimahs and Charlottes turn to ride on the oval track. They are well prepared. Svala is in a 5th position and has a good chance to improve in the second round off the rideability test today.

05-08-2009: Off-day for Laura

Lauras horse Huni lacked energy in the five gait and ended up with a score just below 5. He made no big mistakes, but was just too slow, so the judged were a bit hard on her. Hopefully it will go better tomorrow in the pace test.

05-08-2009: Mike nb. 14 in T.2

Sorry for the delays in news. Website was hacked yesterday, but is in function agian. Mike did his best international performance in T.2 with 6,57 in total score and a position as nb. 14. Iris had a tough match against the later leader in T.2 Dennis Johansen, DEN, and Magnus Skúlasoon, SWE, and ended as nb. 36.

04-08-2009: Iris and Mike starts today

This afternoon are the first sports riders from GB on the track. Iris and Mike start in the T.2. Mike is first to go and will start 5.30 and Iris half an hour later.

03-08-2009: Svala got 8.16 for conformation

Svala from Witchhampton got 8.16 for conformation today. She was shown by Anna and Magnus Skulason, who did a very good job. Some of the other horses went down quite a lot, so the score for Svala was ok. Svala are number 3 at the moment in her class with a good chance to win the bronze in the categori of mares of 7 years and older.

The sport team went to the Fit to compete test and all the horses were approved by the vets. So now we are ready for the first competition tomorrow which will be the T.2, where Mike Adams and Iris Ashmann are starting

03-08-2009: The breeding show starts today

All the sport horses in the team are preparing for the vet check and Svala is preparing for the first day in the WC breeding show. Yesterdays training went well and every one in the team has been analyzing videos from their performance at the oval track. We will try to upload more photos from the training.

02-08-2009: Svala for vet check

The first British horse is in action this morning. Svala is going to the vet check. The rest of the team is training in the afternoon on the oval track. The weather has changed from sun and very hot weather to rain and thunder.

01-08-2009: We are on track

Today the whole team went on the oval track. It was great fun and the horses and riders did well. Everybody seemed pleased. It is very hot down here and there are many flies biting the horses. So we have to spray them the whole time with fly spray to try and keep them focused. Luckily there is a small river running through the camp, so now we will go and have a dip in the cold refreshing water.

The trip getting here was long, but al the horses seem to have coped well and are not too stiff. The team spirit is high and we are looking forward to the next weeks events
